We provide internships, career development strategies, and standards of excellence for the sports broadcast industry. Through transformative experiences designed to illuminate the possibilities of a successful career in sports media, EWO is dedicated to diversifying the industry and creating tangible avenues for personal growth and full-time employment.

EWO arranged for 20 students from Houston Community College over a three day period to work behind the scenes at Super Bowl LI. Students were exposed to the behind the scenes making of the event, used as stand-ins, and engaged with technicians and stage managers. Further, they participated in question and answer sessions and received a master class from an industry professional.

High school and college students are exposed to high level media events and motivated to learn through our valuable mentorship programs, speaker series, and internships.
EWO Fellows
The Eyes Wide Open Fellows Program provides multi-year internships to students at media companies across the country. Participants are offered a paid internship that begins after their freshman year and continues through their academic experience. Fellows gain significant on-the-job training in their respective field, make valuable connections, and secure mentors who remain invested in their success. Our fellows graduate with authentic work experience and a head start in their chosen field of sports media. We focus on two programming tracks to properly educate our students: Media Content (Sports News Production, Sports Broadcast Journalism, and Sports Print Journalism), and Media Operations (Engineering, Software Development, Studio/Control Room Ops, Editing etc.).
EWO Sports Boot Camp
EWO Sports Boot Camp is an innovative summer camp exclusively designed for students currently in high school and college who are interested in sports journalism and production. This three-day on-site summer boot camp places participants in the middle of sports production and highlights the possibilities of a thriving career in sports media. Participants learn under the expert tutelage of veteran sports journalists, producers, directors, videographers, and other sports broadcasting professionals. They are exposed to the play-by-play experience; sideline reporting, hosting, studio production and much more. Students will also produce segments, learn various technologies about full sports programs while inside state-of-the-art production trucks. They engage with content creators and gain practical knowledge of what it takes to create sports content. Additionally, there are breakout sessions on critical and creative thinking to demonstrate the necessary skills needed to succeed in the industry.
Latrelle’s Hospitality Fellows
The Latrelle’s Fellows Program offers a paid multi-year internship that commences the summer after their freshman year of college and continues through their academic experience. Fellows gain significant on-the-job training, make valuable connections with potential employers, and secure mentors in the service industry who remain invested in their success. Our fellows graduate with authentic work experience and a head start in their chosen field. This program is designed to provide a clear career path, define performance expectations, and structure developmental opportunities for future leaders in the field.
